Real family adventures — written as stories, built to help you plan

Vietnam Beyond Saigon brings together our family travels across the country — from navigating Hanoi’s old streets to mountain hikes in Sa Pa that test your legs (and your patience).

Each post begins with a real question families ask. We share our story first — the honest moments, the surprises, the small wins — followed by practical advice on costs, logistics, and what we would genuinely recommend when travelling with children.

Is Hanoi Train Street Safe to Visit With Kids? (Our July 2025 Family Experience)

Train Street is one of Hanoi’s most talked-about spots — and also one of the most debated. Between the viral videos, changing rules, and safety warnings, it’s hard to know what to believe.
We visited in July 2025 (Sunday afternoon) with our 7-year-old, and this post breaks down what it was really like, what felt safe, what didn’t, and how to do it properly as a family.

Hiking in Sa Pa With Kids: Is It Worth It? (Our 10km Trek in July 2025)

Sa Pa trekking looks beautiful online — rice terraces, mountain views, peaceful valleys — but with kids it can be a totally different story (especially in the rain!).
We trekked 10km in July 2025 with our 7-year-old, starting and finishing at Peace Homestay in the Sa Pa Valley, and it turned into a proper muddy adventure. This blog shares what it was really like, what we learned, what to pack, and whether we’d recommend it for families.
